The Reserve Bank (RBI) will be issuing Rs.10 denomination notes for circulation with enhanced security features, very shortly.
Even though new notes are to be issued, the old notes will still remain valid. Regarding this, the statement from RBI says, “All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs 10 issued by the Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.”
RBI has informed the below mentioned important features that can be seen in the new notes:
- The Mahatma Gandhi series-2005 bank notes will carry inset letter ‘L’ on both number panels and it will bear the signature of Governor Urjit Patel.
- The year of printing (2017) will be seen on the reverse of the note.
- Numerals on both the panels will be in ascending size from left to right.
- The size of the prefix, i.e., the first three alpha-numeric characters will remain constant.
