When reliance bonus shares will be issued in 2017.

During 40th annual general meeting held on Jul 21st 2017, reliance industries announced bonus share issue in the ratio of 1:1 . This means reliance shareholders will be getting one share for every share held once getting the approval from the board.

After 8 years RIL is issuing bonus share. Last bonus issue was announced on 07-OCT-2009 in the ratio of 1:1. For that bonus issue record date was 27-Nov-2009 and ex-date happened to be on 26-Nov-2009.

Before 2009 Reliance announced bonus share on 13-Sep-1997 in the ratio of same 1:1. For that issue record date was 29-Nov-1997 and ex-date happened to be on 27-OCT-1997.

Going by the history ex-date for the bonus issue was after 44 and 50 days from the date of announcement to get the approval for the board and to fulfill other formalities . So we can expect the bonus issue for 2017 to happen in the month of September 2017.

What is Ex-date?

Ex-date means Ex-Dividend Dates, which means if a stock is purchase on or after ex-date the person will not be receive the dividend or any corporate actions issued. If someone willing to get the bonus or cash dividend announced by the company then you should buy the stock before ex-date.

What is record date?

The record date is the cut-off date said by the company in order to get the final list of eligible shareholders who are entitled to receive the dividend or bonus or split or any corporate actions. Usually ex-date will be announced along with the record date. So that investor can buy the stock before ex-date to become eligible for the corporate action
